The elevator becomes the mobility element that integrates with other building systems.

Smart building is a more and more widespread concept. With this term we identify intelligent buildings that can adapt their operation in an automated way, depending on their use and user needs, by ensuring an inclusive, safe and sustainable user experience. In this context elevators play a key role. From simple means connecting people and goods from one floor to another, elevators must become mobility elements that integrate with other systems inside buildings.

KONE DX elevators - the first elevators with integrated connectivity - have a feature that makes them unique: they communicate. Each KONE DX elevator constantly communicates with the KONE Digital Platform, a specific digital platform, open and entirely cloud-based, equipped with Application Programming Interfaces (APIs) for the development of applications. This feature allows almost infinite solutions and services, such as remote-control system, predictive diagnostics, self-driving devices able to use the elevator autonomously, and much more.

But KONE DX elevators offer even more. They are the first zero-emission elevators not only because they guarantee energy saving, but also because they have achieved carbon neutrality by optimizing the production, logistics, installation and materials management processes. And as we work to further refine our operations, we have decided to offset carbon emissions that cannot be avoided.

In this scenario, there are multiple advantages. On the one hand, users can benefit from an increased user experience, which satisfies everyone's needs in a broad and diversified way. On the other hand, building managers have more than a valid help in optimizing maintenance, safety and consumption. Furthermore, new scenarios open up to architects and designers, allowing them to design highly customized solutions that combine various elements by integrating them with the lift.

The final purposes of smart building system technology, and more specifically of digital elevators, are therefore energy efficiency, accessibility, best People Flow management – the people movement in and between buildings without waiting - with consequent increase in the value of the property.
